What would “selling Chrome” even entail? The vast majority of Chrome’s source code is free and open source software, i.e. it has no owners. Does the US government want Google’s developers of the Chromium codebase to work on another company’s payroll instead? Do they want Google to be prohibited from distributing a browser based on the Chromium codebase? Have they given any of this any thought at all?
If you click around a bit more in that documentation, you can see that that isn’t an enumeration of genders, it’s an interface for answering the question which gender any given name belongs to. (For example, “Andrea” is understood as exclusively feminine for German speakers, but it’s a common male first name in Italy.)

3/5 and as I was writing this I found out I might be able to get rid of the video recording shortcut because apparently a software update exposed the full video resolution to OpenCamera… although I still have to test that.

I grew up on IRC as well as web forums and found those social interactions very fun overall, not dissimilar from IRL social interactions.

I tend to be unsympathetic in general to ideas that anyone (including young people) needs to be “protected” from their own decisions.
So teens who don’t fit in well in the IRL spaces that are available to them should have 0 ways to have social interactions?
If teen me hadn’t had the internet, I would have 0 joyful memories whatsoever of my teen years. Anyone sympathizing with the ideas in the OP is in my mind purely evil and oppressive, I have no other words to describe this.

Art doesn’t have to fulfill a practical purpose nor does it usually have security vulnerabilities. Not taking a position on the substance, but these are two major differences between the two.
Oddly enough that isn’t quite my experience. I went to university immediately after finishing school and was pleasantly surprised at how civilized and mature everyone at university was, compared to just a few months ago at school, even though many of them were still teenagers. It’s something about the environment of school that causes so many young people to behave awfully.

Doesn’t PeerTube already do this? Maybe I am mistaken.
In any case there’s nothing inherently preventing this, just because a platform gets some of its data from other servers instead of its own users, it doesn’t mean it can’t use that data to run a recommendation algorithm.
I don’t want it though. I prefer choosing for myself what sources I want to get information from instead of getting any of it recommended by the platform operator.
