ironFox principally

Curious why?

I took a brief look and found some experience breaking changes like no dark mode and a general don’t do this since it can be a privacy risk even at the cost of speed which firefox has not been known for ages.

Some points which I observed:

• Dark Reader is known to be incompatible with IronFox’s changes and will cause significant breakage/slowdowns.

• Dark mode for websites is disabled due to resist fingerprinting. Please do not disable RFP.

• IronFox disables the JavaScript JIT to increase security at the cost of slowing down webapps, complex websites, and the PDF viewer. Navigate to about:config and change javascript.options.ion and javascript.options.baselinejit to true to restore their performance, though this is not recommended.

• IronFox has strict certificate revocation checks. The CA revocation servers are occasionally down/blocked/inaccessible, so you may see a “Secure Connection Failed” error from time to time. Navigate to about:config and change security.OCSP.require to false, this is however a security and privacy risk.

• IronFox requires safe renegotiation for connections. Certain websites do not support this and will result in a “Secure Connection Failed” error. Please report these errors to the impacted websites. You can navigate to about:config and set security.ssl.require_safe_negotiation to false to disable the requirement for safe renegotiations, this is however a security and privacy risk

• IronFox has stripped referrers. This often breaks loading of images on websites with hotlink protection. Navigate to about:config and change network.http.referer.XOriginPolicy from 2 to 1 (or 0 if you’re still having issues), this is however a privacy risk.

• IronFox has visited link highlighting disabled by default. Navigate to about:config and change layout.css.visited_links_enabled to true if needed, this is however a privacy risk

Yeah, but its Foss and also unlike berry browser limits the amount of requests and information being sent to minimal at the cost of even breaking function by default.

I recommend firefox or fennec from fdroid but you can use Privacy browser if you want a webview version.

Why not use Privacy Browser? Its Foss and has many settings to limit the amount of information being sent by default. Firefox may not be super fast but still does the job much better with addons like Ublock-origin Also, most people do not hate the UI. Rather the tracking from google.

I would also be careful with using closed webview based apps since you won’t know if they sellout untill a ad update gets pushed to you. The transformer tuning only runs when charging. Which causes a major slowdown and heating issue on my phone. So, apart from that and some latency issues in demanding apps due to nature of the LLM prediction it is alright.

You should be able to do this with tasker or macrodroid. The how will need to be researched by you. Good luck.

This is already a feature in colorOS based phones.

How do you charge the 2nd battery? Do you charge it slowly when home and keep it as spare while you use your main battery and wait for it to charge to full.

Can you share the model name of your headset?

You have bigger things to worry about if you are worried about google being an adversary while using a Google OS with play services and google apps.

I was merely suggesting DNS as another layer which can be speed up. But, you will have to check with your VPN provider if there’s no setting go increase timeout. Or change servers so you get faster more responsive server locations which work for you.

I can only recommend Sony. Especially, the newer one which has 4+6yrs of software updates. But, you will have to wait untit it becomes old for 2nd hand model to get within $260.

But, if you can get your hands on fairphone. It would be good too. Everything except 3.5mm jack, the android 15 update which will arrive sometime in the future. You will have to compromise someplace to arrive at your ideal phone.

The A72 is very old and in the poco X5 pro you will be dealing with MiUi/hyperOS shenanigans like not being able to use gestures in 3rd party launchers.

Your VPN should have a setting to increase the connection timeout. There’s also using a fast(for you) DNS to reduce DNS related slowdowns.

Longer than your lifespan, too.

The UI is not intuitive and I never allow notifications for websites. But, I guess it is for the regular user.

An app named filterbox can be used if you need something for all your notifications.

Pixel 8 did not get the multi model Gemini update simply because it lacked the additional RAM needed for the LLM. Its the same with this feature. They brought battery health and charge counter in android 14.

They could’ve bought this to pixel phones if google did not skimp on the hardware.

Software updates will always have hardware limitations

I know but, since they were going to work on this feature and had starting with android 14. It does not make sense to skimp on it for a year old hardware. Same with the RAM limitation on the pixel 8.

They have been working on the battery health feature for a time. Android 14 brought the charge counter to supported phones. It would be unreasonable to say they did not know.

Maybe, google should’ve included the necessary hardware if it was going to bring the feature to pixel down the line. 7 yrs of updates with missing features does not inspire confidence in them.

Interesting that the 8a will get this feature. But, pixel 8 and 8 pro won’t.
